Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI) exists to invent, demonstrate, and translate technical solutions for national priorities in defense, security, energy, environmental, healthcare, and industrial markets.

PSI offers the facilities, people, equipment, and organizational maturity to support these endeavors. In many cases, these technologies become products that PSI manufactures and sells directly to end users.

PSI came to Isovera because their website needed a refresh. It had been 8 years since their last website redesign, and their current site did not clearly convey what PSI does, and who they are. PSI also wanted the website to better help them with their #1 goal: recruit top talent.

Attract Candidates. Recruit top talent by showing what it’s like to work at PSI through a new Careers landing page and impactful photography.

Increase customer inquiries. We created a new contact form for PSI so it is easier for the user to contact the correct PSI team member.

Clearly showcase PSI’s products and capabilities.

The process started with a Discovery workshop where we learned about PSI’s goals and challenges. Isovera then conducted stakeholder interviews, created personas, and mapped the user flow. We presented the Discovery Findings to showcase what we had learned and how it would translate to the website.

We developed a new sitemap and wireframes to wrap up the Discovery UX phase. The sitemap was a complete reorganization of their current site to make it more user-friendly and provide a clearer understanding of PSI’s work. This involved a sitemap workshop with multiple stakeholders to align on how they present their work. The discovery phase helped identify the content structure and informed the creation of reusable components, resulting in a flexible site ready to grow with PSI.

Isovera collaborated with PSI to design an ADA-compliant site that prioritizes storytelling through impactful imagery, showcasing PSI’s talented team. We conducted two on-site photoshoots, resulting in stunning shots throughout the website and marketing materials.

We color-coded the careers section in action-oriented green to draw attention to links about working at PSI and employee vignettes. This color scheme and real PSI employee photos created a robust and engaging Careers landing page.

Employee testimonials and stories were also highlighted across the site, providing a glimpse into “A Day in the Life” at PSI and guiding users to Open Career Opportunities.

We cross-pollinated sections and integrated related news and publications to prevent dead ends and encourage user engagement.


PSI approached Isovera when their current hosting was expiring, and the discovery process revealed they needed a new user-friendly CMS accessible to multiple team members.

Isovera recommended WordPress. It was a sustainable solution that offered familiarity, scalability, flexibility, intuitive editing, and ease of use, making it the perfect choice for PSI’s needs.

I’ve been involved with the creation of every PSI web-site over the last 30 years or so. One of the challenges for us in this exercise is framing the value proposition and culture of our unique organization in the context of contemporary, evolving web-based communication tools. Isovera was particularly insightful and creative with our team to extract this from us and embed it in the look and feel of our newest web-site.
